About Windscreen
Fix-A-Glass sells and distributes wide range of quality windscreen for almost all types of automotive windscreen in Malaysia and even across Asia Pacific.
Fix-A-Glass uses only windscreen that conformed to United Nation quality standard of ECE43. This product certification is worldwide standard for laminated windshield and governs by United Nation.
In Malaysia, local product certification is govern by SIRIM and Malaysian auto glass manufacturer is required to have MS standard and TS595 for windscreen and other auto glass parts.
Most of new modern cars now are required to have front laminated glass and all sidelight and backlit is tempered glass.

Difference between laminated and tempered glass
Tempered glass or single layer glass is mostly used for sidelight and backlit. It is manufactured by heating and then rapidly cooling the glass. This cooling process causes the outside surface to form a hard ‘skin’ which is up to 7 times stronger than ‘annealed’ glass. When it is broken, it shatters into small, less harmful fragments.
Laminated glass or double layer glass is mostly used for front windscreen. A laminated windshield is made up of two pieces of plate glass sandwiched around a layer of polyvinyl butryl (PVB). The purpose of this type of construction is to protect against penetration, either from the outside in or the other way around. You’ll notice that when a windshield is badly damaged, it will normally remain in one piece. Tempered glass is plate glass that is specially heat treated so that when it breaks, it does not ‘shard’. Most non-windshield glass is tempered, and when it breaks, it does so in to hundreds of little pieces that lack the long, sharp edges normally associated with broken glass.
